the Schwinn “Pea-Picker” was introduced in 1969. It was available until 1973. It caught my eye a couple of months ago while i was looking (drooling over) at all of the awesome vintage, antique, and refurbished bikes in Eddy’s Cycle City, Bayonne NJ. Every time i walk in, I longingly gaze at the “pea- picker” as if it is a lost lover that slipped from my tight grasp. Sadly, she is wanted by many fans and collectors i guess….she is a beauty. When it was first manufactured, it went for $119.00. Now…..it can go for up to $1000.00!!! The 1972/73 model was equipped with rear disc brakes which are now worth three times the amount of the original price of the bike!!!! Another unique trait is the 5 speed stik-shift I don’t care how much it is. i will have it one day. If this obsession grows any deeper, i might be carrying a picture in my wallet.

i’ve recently purchased a bike (not the bike above…i wish i had it though) i believe it is a refurb from the late 70′s. Lately, the daunting feeling of being trapped in an overwhelming and mundane “adult” life has been eating away at my soul. After riding around for hours in the fog last saturday i feel like i have finally found something about myself that has been lost for a very long time.

i came across this image (on the top to the right) on the Museum of Mourning Photography’s site. It reminded me of one of my favorite illustrations(obviously the one on the bottom). it seems as though the artist had this photograph in mind when he painted this scene. We will never know if we go anywhere after we die until we die. where do children go when they die? Is this what it could be like a minute after a child dies?
